LMTLS studio proposes Wavescape, an undulating structure to revitalize Honggye Stream in Seoul, South Korea.

The “Wavescape” is a proposal for the revitalization of the abandoned and disconnected urban area along the Honggye Stream in Seoul, South Korea. LMTLS aims to transform and redefine the current environment through the design. The designers have conceived the undulating surface thinking of it as a social magic carpet that connects the different levels of stream and city.

LMTLS proposal takes these new surfaces and with them intensifies the landscape by urbanizing both interior and exterior. Wavescape is an extension of a street and a park and it is designed to complement the existing structures and integrate itself into the context, the design is meant to activate simultaneous mutation between architecture and landscape.

Wavescape - interior spaces
LMTLS created interior and exterior spaces within the undulating structure to intensify the urbanization and attract visitors

Through the complete integration of the design and surrounding area, Wavescape encourages visitors and neighboring communities to spend time on the structure. The beautiful curvature of the surface creates a dynamic variation and it maximizes the accessibility and connection between stream and city. The undulating roof profile in section and elevation reinforces the public nature of the building and it allows direct contact with the Honggye Stream creating this way, a new experience and interaction between the visitor, the structure, and the stream.
