A fluid aerodynamic shape that turns into emotional design

Everyday products, which form and materiality instantly forge an emotional connection with the user.
When Eric Wu, founder of Lyfe Products, went to Alvaro Uribe Design Studio to design a new bottle opener and ice-cream scoop, he said:
“the user should not want to let go of this product”
They knew then the design had to be sensorial.

In order to capture the eye, they imagined a design as if it was in constant motion, almost like a sports car.
Form and function then evolved simultaneously into one fluid shape that appeared to be flowing off your hand to touch the bottle cap or the ice-cream.
This later became accentuated by the purity and reflectiveness of the material, which gave the design a surgical feel and appearance of liquid mercury.
To give the design a tactile feel, Alvaro Uribe took the organic shape of the design and cut it in a geometric pattern that the user will rub its fingers around almost subconsciously and obsessively.

Finally, the sharp uniform edges create a step pattern, that when placed on a table the bottle opener rocks with a hypnotizing clicking knock.
