EDIT Napoli launches ATLANTE: The search engine dedicated to design authors

A few weeks after the conclusion of its third edition, EDIT Napoli unveils ATLANTE, a journey into the world of international editors and authors of design.

The new search engine, dedicated exclusively to this segment of design of which EDIT Napoli has become a touchstone, was born from direct contact with the experts.

Thanks to the dialogue with the spectrum of professional figures linked to the fair, the creators Domitilla Dardi and Emilia Petruccelli have devised a tool through which buyers, architects, retailers, curators and interested parties will have easy access to the index-linked productions of the designers and of the brands present at the fair and beyond. ATLANTE will also be a dynamic and ever-evolving map.

“ATLANTE was born from the same roots and the same principles that led us four years ago to the creation of EDIT Napoli. This search engine seeks to respond to the need, which I harboured myself as a buyer, to draw from a unique basin of projects created and developed by productive realities beyond the big circuits.

The same realities that up until now have not had the possibility to harness a network and which recognize ATLANTE as an index, a tool able to collect and compile these projects and their creators into a system through a simple and user-friendly interface” – explains Emilia Petruccelli, co-creator of the project.

Present within ATLANTE are more than 80 international exhibitors including independent designers, authors and editors of design, creators and producers who energized the rooms and cloister of the San Domenico Maggiore Complex in October 2021.

“This edition confirms that design authors have found its centre of gravity in Naples, a city capable of bringing the local audience of enthusiasts to the national and international audience of architects, designers and buyers. The same quality that is at the heart of the values of the fair, can be found in the attention paid by all present to the stories, products and processes recounted by the exhibitors“– says Domitilla Dardi, curator of EDIT Napoli.

EDIT Napoli brought together over 80 exhibitors from Italy and beyond by an appreciation for artisanal flair and local craftsmanship, even when it comes to industrially produced design.

The best unreleased works awarded this year

The commission of experts, composed of the Italian designers Andrea Trimarchi and Simone Farresin – Formafantasma, the French interior and furniture designer Dorothée Meilichzon and the web director of ELLE Decor Italia – Alessandro Valenti has also assigned a prize to the best unreleased works chosen from among the exhibitors and the pieces presented by emerging brands and talents making their debut in the Seminar section, awarding the winners with an exhibition space for the 2022 edition.

The winner for the main section is Unstressed Chair, a seat in shaped tubular aluminium, by the Italian design studio based in Stockholm, Stamuli with Alessandro Bruzzone. In the Seminar section, dedicated to emerging authors, the blown glass collection by Danish designer Alexander Kirkeby wins the main prize; honourable mentions were given to the Gimme Shelter carpet by Caterina Frongia and to the Mangiatutto ceramics by ccontinua + mamt.

Four EDIT CULT exhibitions are still open

Lastly, the exhibitions and installations part of the EDIT CULT programme will remain open, allowing the general public to learn about editorial design beyond the three days of the fair, grafting its DNA into the dense alleys of the historic city centre and into the hotbeds of Neapolitan culture.

It will also be possible to visit the installation of the French brand La Manufacture at the Teatro di San Carlo until 15 December 2021, while the exhibition on Daniel Kruger curated by Marco Bazzini for Galleria Antonella Villanova at the Museo del Tesoro di San Gennaro, the installation/collection by Stéphanie Moussallem for House of Today at the Made in Cloister Foundation and the “Chest’è” exhibition by Federico Pepe curated by Federica Sala hosted by the Gaetano Filangieri Civic Museum will be open until 30 January 2022.

EDIT Napoli is already working on its fourth edition which will take place in October 2022.
