The Salone del Mobile.Milano has repeated last year\u2019s successful first edition of the Salone del Mobile.Milano Award\r\nSalone del Mobile .Milano Award is a special prize for the very best showcased by the furnishing and design world at the most recent edition of the fair.\r\nThe award is intended to recognise the value of ideas, creativity, innovation and technology that together contrive to make the event the world\u2019s most acclaimed international vehicle for cutting edge design trends and the very latest in home living.\r\n\r\nThe award is presented to well-known and emerging designers, displays and products.\r\n\u201cThe Salone del Mobile\u2019s idea was that this award would allow the emotions aroused by the trade fair to live on, recognizing the enormous creative, productive and organizational commitment of our companies and all the designers and people who help to attract the most innovative products and manufacturing processes to Milan\u201d\r\nsaid President Claudio Luti.\r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n \r\nThe awards were split into 11 categories:\r\n\r\n\r\n \tBest Product \u2013 Workplace3.0\r\n \tBest Product \u2013 Euroluce\r\n \tBest Product \u2013 xLux\r\n \tBest Product \u2013 Classic\r\n \tBest Display, Best Furnishing Product\r\n \tBest Emerging Designer\r\n \tLifetime Achievement Award\r\n \tSpecial Jury Prize\r\n \tSpecial Banca Intesa Sanpaolo Prize\r\n\r\n \r\nThe submissions were judged by a prestigious jury:\r\n\r\n\r\n \tSilvana Annicchiarico, Director, Triennale Design Museum, Milan\r\n \tDomitilla Dardi, Design Curator, MAXXI, Rome\r\n \tMassimo Mini, CEO, designboom\r\n \tEttore Mochetti, Editor, AD Italia\r\n \tMargherita Palli, scenographer\r\n \tLivia Peraldo Matton, Editor-in-Chief, Elle Decor Italia\r\n \tDavide Rampello, Professor of Arts and Regional Skills at Milan Polytechnic University\r\n\r\nThe following 11 winners were announced at the award ceremony held last Thursday 8th June, at Triennale Teatro dell\u2019Arte.\r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n \r\nBest Product \u2013 Workplace3.0: Io.T \/ studio Gtp and Tecno\r\nFor their skill in combining innovative technological features and functionality with the human relational demands of the contemporary office environment.\r\n \r\nBest Product \u2013 Euroluce: Filo \/ Andrea Anastasio \/ Foscarini\r\nFor his ability to reread tradition in a contemporary and international vein, bringing new structural meaning to the notion of decoration and personalising mass production\r\n \r\nBest Product \u2013 xLux: D.Vision3 \/ Ferruccio Laviani \/ F.lli Boffi\r\nFor the ability to carry forward traditional classic design codes into contemporary culture. A sign of a new eclecticism that underscores the powers of craftsmanship.\r\n \r\nBest Product \u2013 Classic: Black & White Collection \/ Provasi\r\nFor their skill in combining contemporary materials, processes and decorations (the coverings in nubuck leather and fabric, the faintly Orientalist silver studs) and shapes drawn from the great models of the past, thus informing an original and in its own way innovative style, while maintaining continuity with traditional classical elegance.\r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n \r\nBest Display: Flos \/ Calvi Brambilla\r\nA display that goes beyond the traditional concept of a trade fair stand thanks to its ability to draw visitors through the light sources as if in a narration. From the exterior to the interior, where lights, colours, materials and solids and voids play out masterfully.\r\n \r\nBest Product \u2013 Furnishing: Pack \/ Francesco Binfar\u00e9 \/ Edra\r\nBecause it turns a functional object into a sort of transitional metaphor: a comfortable sofa with a new take on posture, welcoming and cosy. It is also a domestic landscape that becomes a manifesto for the great changes wrought across the ages.\r\n \r\nBest Emerging Designer: Elena Salmistraro\r\nFor her ability to enable her own expressive powers of imagination to dialogue with mass production, fuelling new food for thought.\r\n \r\nBest Designer: Philippe Starck\r\nFor the consistency with which, over the years, he has created objects that speak an international language. A contemporary master who never fails to surprise.\r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n \r\nLifetime Achievement Award: Ernesto Gismondi\r\nFor his sense of contemporaneity, his innate talent at working up boundless formal solutions that meld lightness with evocations of a near future.\r\n \r\nSpecial Jury Prize: Marva Griffin\r\nFor her generosity and far-sightedness in believing in a project for and with young people: a massively deserved tribute to a woman to whom we are all grateful and indebted.\r\n \r\nSpecial Banca Intesa Sanpaolo Prize (institutional partner Salone del Mobile.Milano): De Castelli.\r\nFor \u201cTracing Identity\u201d, an inclusive project that makes the very most of the company\u2019s manufacturing capabilities, channelling the work of designers left to interpret the raw material according to their own personal vision.
