AECOM is a multinational company that designs, builds, finances and operates construction projects around the world. It has around 87,000 employees and had revenues of over $18 billion in 2017.
It was founded by a group of employees from various design and engineering companies who shared a common vision of establishing a top-tier firm committed to making the world a better place. The company came into existence through the merger of five different entities, officially founding AECOM in 1990.
However, several of the predecessor firms had rich and storied histories spanning over 120 years. Over the years, AECOM has welcomed over 50 additional companies into its fold, and in 2007, it transitioned to a publicly traded company listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
