Having completed his Industrial Design studies at the Folkwang University of Arts in Essen, Paul Kötz relocated back to Hamburg, where he embarked on his career journey, first as an intern and later as a full-time professional in various design studios.
Driven by a fascination with materials, shapes, and an innovative approach to design, Kötz shifted his focus towards developing his unique perspective. Through his work, Paul aims to challenge the conventional and often unreflective engagement with furniture, striving to introduce novel viewpoints by emphasizing the unorthodox.

Utilizing aluminum, the design emphasizes sleek lines, minimal weight, and sharp angles. Meanwhile, the intricacies of its design, featuring organic and fluid forms, offer a striking contrast, making them the focal point of the aesthetic.

It incorporates elements of instability and conveys a sense of unreliability, prompting users to initially engage with it skeptically, deeming it non-functional or even defective. Paulkoetz's goal is to disrupt the routine, unthinking practice of sitting by challenging the norms of conventional chair design. The chair's minimalist, streamlined form draws attention to its core components: four legs, a seat, and a backrest, with the intentional irregularity in the lengths of the legs further emphasizing this aspect. Through this design, paulkoetz encourages users to revisit their assumptions about stability and practicality. Despite its initial impression, the "sitz" is remarkably sturdy and can be used with confidence.
