Sarah Hossli, hailing from Lucerne, Switzerland, is a product designer who draws inspiration from contemporary cultural, societal, and ethical themes.
Her design process involves a meticulous examination of the societal ramifications of products, resulting in the creation of objects that seamlessly blend poetic and sensual qualities. Sarah earned her Master’s degree in Product Design from ECAL in 2020.
Projects
CUBE ANIMALS – Newborns and toddlers can use Cube Animals as building blocks to play with and collect first experiences that relate to surface feel and the sound of wood; while older children who already recognize colours and forms can learn to playfully group them together.
LOTTE – To get up and sit down independently is challenging for many elderly people, limiting their freedom in everyday life. With its extended armrests that go all around and serve as a handrail, this armchair enables the user to get up intuitively in a position with minimal resistance.
SHOE RACK N01 – The Shoe Rack N01 consists of a waterproof bottom tray and an inserted cover. It catches water and dirt, is very stable and easy to clean. Commissioned by Neustahl GmbH, Lucerne.
PLAYSCAPES – The Playscapes boast vibrant colors, durability, and a seamless one-piece construction. Their polypropylene granulate hues reflect the material's recycling journey, while their appearance evokes both the resilience of plastic and the organic beauty of natural stone.
GROW – The clothing rail Grow is meticulously crafted to cater to the unique body size and requirements of children. Inspired by the educational philosophy of Maria Montessori, Grow is designed to empower children by fostering self-discovery, building self-assurance, and encouraging both creative and practical learning experiences.
FOREST – The vast and diverse forests of the Americas undergo natural regeneration on a significant scale. Approximately 40% of the total standing timber comprises cherry, maple, and red oak trees, which often grow in abundance, surpassing the volume utilized. This project draws inspiration from the Interactive Forest Maps developed by AHEC, which provide visual representations of the volume, growth, and removals within American hardwood forests.
