Renowned British industrial designer Sebastian Bergne is celebrated for his ability to transform everyday objects into something extraordinary through his human-centered and essential approach to design. Sebastian’s versatility allows him and his team to engage in various design endeavors.

They serve as an external industrial design resource for international brands, design and provide bespoke objects for restaurants, retailers, and individuals, assume the role of art director for both new and established brands, and also curate his expanding collection of studio editions.

After graduating from the Royal College of Art in 1990, Sebastian established his studio in the same year. His accomplishments have garnered widespread recognition, including numerous international design awards, frequent features in publications, exhibitions, and inclusion in prestigious museum collections such as The Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Design Museum in London.

His extensive experience also makes him a sought-after curator, lecturer, educator, and mentor for emerging design talent.

Projects

POISE LAMP - Sebastian Bergne designed the Poise lamps as part of the Akari Unfolded exhibition, curated and edited by Ymer & Malta for the Noguchi Museum in New York. These lamps draw inspiration from the artistic and design legacy of Isamu Noguchi, employing basic materials and unassuming references. By combining paper, lead, cord, and stainless steel, they achieve a delicate equilibrium in their composition. The result is a series of thoughtfully balanced arrangements that emit soft directional light, evoking the ambiance of a photographic studio.
MONTHLY MEASURE is a dual-purpose tool, serving as both a perpetual calendar and a ruler. It features a star symbol that can be aligned with the serrated edge of the ruler to indicate the day and date within the month. Adjusting the date is a straightforward process as you simply roll the star along the ruler. Additionally, with date markings every centimeter, Monthly Measure can also function as a 30cm metric ruler.
CANDLE BRICK is a handmade candle holder that exudes a rugged, artisanal charm and a grounded, natural character when placed in a home environment. These candle holders can be used individually or creatively assembled into sculptural arrangements, evoking the essence of architectural fragments. They provide captivating candlelight to illuminate tabletops, shelves, or bars with a unique and artistic touch.
