Flossr, the reusable dental floss holder that lasts a lifetime
Born from an idea by the Swedish studio SNRGY, Flossr is a sustainable and compact alternative to traditional oral hygiene tools. Designed also as a travel companion, after a successful Kickstarter campaign the project is now ready for production.
When it comes to personal hygiene, environmentally conscious consumers face many choices, from reusable toothbrushes to solid soap bars. The deeper you look into a product, the more questions arise: is it made from reusable materials? Can it be recycled? What kind of packaging does it use? A new answer to these questions comes in the form of Flossr, a dental floss holder designed to last a lifetime and reduce plastic waste.
Regular flossing contributes significantly to overall oral health, but it also creates a less obvious problem: the constant disposal of single-use floss picks and plastic packaging, which adds to household waste.

A better way to floss
The team of Swedish designers at the Gothenburg-based studio SNRGY set out to address this issue with a solution that is both simple and effective: Flossr, an elegant stainless-steel dental floss holder.
The product is water-resistant, hygienic, and compact, measuring approximately 6 x 2.5 cm. To use it, simply lift the side latch to release the internal metal arm, around which the floss can be wrapped. Once closed, Flossr protects the floss from dirt, making it convenient to carry wherever you go.
A compact and sustainable alternative
The new device has been approved by dental professionals and is compatible with most dental floss brands currently on the market. Unlike traditional floss holders, however, Flossr can store up to approximately 3 meters of floss, providing months of daily use.
A removable spool allows for quick and easy refilling. The floss is threaded through a series of built-in guides and secured to the tip of the metal arm, ready for use. An integrated cutter located within one of the guides further enhances usability.
From Kickstarter to the market
The product was initially launched on Kickstarter and proved to be a remarkable success. With an original funding goal of approximately $10,400, the campaign raised more than 50 times that amount, reaching a total of around $540,000. As stated on the campaign page, the team is currently in China meeting with Flossr’s manufacturing partners.
Once available on the market, Flossr is expected to retail for $49. If the same options offered during the Kickstarter campaign remain available, customers will be able to choose between uncoated stainless steel or cases in four colors: Space Grey, Rose Gold, Midnight Blue, and Galaxy Purple. Each package includes a spool of dental floss and a second protective case designed for travel, completely plastic-free.
