Novamobili curates sensory experience to unveil latest collections
Both the Shy privacy screen and the Bay sideboard will be exhibited at Milan Design Week as part of an immersive installation that engages all the senses.
Known for blending functionality with distinctive design aesthetics, Novamobili continues to push the boundaries of innovation in the realm of interior design. Established almost 60 years ago as a beacon of Italian craftsmanship, the brand has garnered acclaim for its extensive range of contemporary furniture offerings, spanning from modular wall units to bespoke wardrobes.
Novamobili’s legacy traces back to its inception, rooted in the Battistella Company group founded in 1953 in Pieve di Soligo. Since then, the brand has evolved into a symbol of excellence, marrying tradition with cutting-edge technology to deliver furniture solutions that transcend mere utility and become statement pieces.
At the heart of Novamobili’s philosophy lies a commitment to quality, sustainability, and customization. Each piece is meticulously crafted to enhance living spaces while adhering to the brand’s core values of durability and timeless design. As Milan Design Week approaches, anticipation mounts for the unveiling of Novamobili’s latest pieces, which the brand plans to exhibit as part of an immersive installation that engages all the senses.
As well as scented plaques, guests will be invited to explore the brand’s latest collections whilst listening to a carefully curated soundtrack, which intends to promote well-being.
Among the pieces on display is the Shy privacy screen designed by Italian designer and art director Federica Biasi, whose penchant for clean, graceful design inspired by Nordic aesthetics has earnt her critical acclaim.
After exploring trends in the Netherlands, she founded the Federica Biasi Studio in Milan, focusing on meticulous attention to detail. Recognized as one of Italy’s Rising Talents in 2017, she champions a philosophy where every element serves a deliberate purpose in both product design and artistic direction.
This approach is exemplified in the Shy privacy screen, which marries elegance with versatility, offering a modern twist on the retro occasional piece. Crafted with a metal frame finished in oxidised bronze, it exudes sophistication, while its three vertical padded panels, upholstered in fabric, provide flexibility in arrangement to suit individual preferences.
With customization options abound, users can choose from a diverse range of fabrics to tailor the screen to their desired aesthetic, further enhancing its appeal as a statement piece within any interior scheme.
Complementing the Shy privacy screen is the Bay sideboard by the young Italian design team Busetti Garuti Redaelli (BGR Design Studio). The piece is a testament to the brand’s creative prowess and attention to detail, forming part of the Details Collection catalogue 2024.
The Bay sideboard is a masterful fusion of style and function. Characterised by its distinctive curved rear silhouette, it commands attention with its sophisticated design language, while its solid geometric structure ensures durability and practicality.
A standout feature of the Bay sideboard is its customizable door options, offering users a choice between hinged or flush-closing sliding doors, as well as variations in surface texture, including smooth fronts or grooved detailing. Furthermore, a diverse range of finishes, from lacquered plains to veneers, allows for ample opportunities for personalization, ensuring seamless integration into any interior setting.
BGR Studio comprises a group of Italian designers dedicated to crafting products that cater to evolving lifestyles and enduring everyday needs. Drawing inspiration from both the rich heritage of Italian design masters and the principles of Scandinavian design, their approach emphasises simplicity, usability, and clarity in every project they undertake. By reimagining traditional and cutting-edge materials, they create subtle yet impactful companions for everyday life.
These latest designs are set to grace Milan’s vibrant design scene from April 16th to 21st, when the city transforms into a hub of design open to the public. Under the title “#DESIGN#SUSTAINABILITY#WELLBEING” ” the showcase will take place at the brand’s flagship store event at Via Melchiorre Gioia 8, where Novamobili will display collections old and new upon the backdrop of its newly designed showroom.
Located at Via Melchiorre Gioia 8 in Milan, the showroom boasts 500 square meters of exhibition space meticulously designed to showcase the Novamobili ambiance across three distinct living environments that focus on design, sustainability and wellbeing.
These three distinct “brand world” environments unfold across the showroom, each one comprising a living room, bedroom, and walk-in closet area. Consistency is achieved through the utilization of natural materials, including a variety of wood types, clay finishes, marble shelving, natural fabric adornments, and sustainable decor elements such as ceramics, glass, and stone. The setup is further enhanced by thoughtfully crafted lighting, a palette of neutral hues, and the incorporation of abundant greenery.
As such, guests will be invited to immerse themselves in a variety of sensory experiences thanks to the design of the products, finishes, and materials chosen. Novamobili has also partnered with Essentia, to create scented silicone plaques for wardrobes, and a specially curated “Wellbeing Soundtrack” by DJ Alessio Bertallot, adding to the overall ambiance of the event, available on Novamobili’s Spotify account even after Milan Design Week 2024. “The playlist is a succession of crossover tracks between jazz and hip hop, warm and discreet, to recreate at home the elegant and pleasantly relaxing mood experienced in the showroom,” explains Novamobili.
Beyond the Shy privacy screen and the Bay sideboard, Novamobili continues to innovate with its extensive range of contemporary furniture solutions tailored to meet the evolving needs of modern living. From modular wall units to bespoke wardrobes, each piece is meticulously crafted to enhance functionality while elevating the aesthetic appeal of any space.
Collaborations with leading architects and designers further underscore the brand’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of design, offering made-to-order furniture solutions with an unwavering focus on quality, sustainability, and customization.
“The cornerstone values of our philosophy are modularity, flexibility, cross-functionality and wide applicability, the very expression of an artisan tradition that lives on in a technologically advanced company open to future challenges,” says Novamobili.
“A solid artisan tradition, highly specialised know-how and the development of new technologies — in the spirit of a sustainable growth — are the values that set apart Battistella Company’s approach, which takes the quality and the creativity of Italian design to the whole world through its Novamobili brand.”
