A brand-new project focused on advanced craftsmanship methods

Established in 2012 by Carl Philip Bernadotte and Oscar Kylberg, the Bernadotte & Kylberg design studio has since been dedicated to crafting designs for prestigious Scandinavian and global brands. Now, they are embarking on their own journey.

Since founding their design studio in 2012, Bernadotte & Kylberg have partnered with some of Scandinavia’s most prestigious design brands, including Georg Jensen, Stelton, Zwiesel, and Hästens. In recent years, they have also undertaken design projects in collaboration with establishments like the Icehotel in Lapland.

Now, taking the next step in their journey, the design duo is launching their own brand, Bernadotte & Kylberg. Drawing upon years of accumulated expertise and a visionary approach, their eponymous brand is characterized by the use of top-notch materials and techniques to create products seamlessly integrated into our daily lives.

The inaugural collection from this design duo will encompass silk scarves, woolen scarves, and throws, all crafted from a luxurious blend of merino wool and cashmere. This collection made its debut on October and will be exclusively available through the brand’s new online store.

We’ve been designing products for others for years. It’s been, and still is, an immensely fun journey. But we’ve always looked forward to the day when we could introduce our own line of products and have been working towards that goal for a long time,” say Bernadotte & Kylberg.

The design duo has expanded their graphic identity, which now forms a consistent pattern running across their entire range of scarves and throws. This pattern serves as an unmistakable and distinctive signature for their brand. The color scheme predominantly features timeless shades like black, white, beige, and grey, with the occasional addition of complementary accent colors.

When working for others, we integrate their brand history, values, and visions into our creative process. This time around, we’re entirely on our own. Factors such as mandated materials or adhering to a specific design style no longer come into play. Here, we are our own clients, focused solely on our essence. That’s why it feels fantastic to finally present our first collection to the world.” they continue.

The debut collection from the brand comprises textile-oriented items, with a strong emphasis on the selection of materials as a pivotal element in their creation. These products radiate a timeless charm, owing to their meticulously planned designs.

While the initial collection places an emphasis on items that lean toward the realm of fashion, or that gracefully bridge the gap between fashion and interior design, such as the throws, Bernadotte & Kylberg have outlined their vision for the brand’s future, which includes an expansion into a diverse range of home product categories.

Simultaneous with the introduction of their brand, Bernadotte & Kylberg will be unveiling an online store. Customers will have the opportunity to purchase items from the brand’s inaugural collection through this online platform.

Bernadotte & Kylberg: the studio philosophy

Their design philosophy is rooted in crafting distinctive and sustainable creations, marked by an unwavering commitment to delivering maximum user utility and premium design craftsmanship. They consider it their responsibility to challenge users’ perceptions and usage of objects by harnessing novel textiles, materials, and techniques.

In doing so, they aim to generate groundbreaking designs that endure across generations. Notably, their achievements include receiving accolades such as the TableWare International Award of Excellence and the Red Dot Award in the “High Quality Design” category for their Aquatic collection with Stelton, as well as the prestigious German Design Gold Award for their Signum collection with Zwiesel.
