Exploring the boundaries of the world’s most disruptive innovations
After a four-year hiatus, Digital Design Days returns to energize the Milanese scene with three days focused on UX/UI, Web3, Artificial Intelligence, the Metaverse, AR/VR/MR, Spatial Computing, Branding Strategy, and motion/animation.
The 8th edition of Digital Design Days returns to Milan from October 6th to 8th, 2024, at Superstudio Più, offering an immersive and unique experience for creatives, entrepreneurs, and technology enthusiasts.
Recognized by Burton Rast, former UX Design Lead at Google, as one of the three most influential and highly anticipated events globally, Digital Design Days (ddd.live) is back at Superstudio Più on Via Tortona 27, following the success of previous editions in Milan and Geneva. In 2019, the event attracted over 5,500 participants from 126 countries, and in 2020, more than 226,000 online viewers.
Founded in 2016 and curated by award-winning designer Filippo Spiezia (read his interview here), this year’s event will focus on the theme of “Renaissance” and is co-organized with Sara Noggler, an innovative marketing strategist specializing in Web 3.0. The event aims to elevate digital storytelling and inspire business growth through cutting-edge design.
“In an increasingly digital world, the ability to tell compelling stories through design and technology is more important than ever. In this new edition of the Digital Design Days, we bring together the best minds in the industry to share their knowledge and inspire the next generation of innovators. The participation of brands, marketers and companies from all industries, as well as designers and creative and digital agencies, will be a unique opportunity to find new customers and collaborators and shows how this field has become enormously important and strategic, offering extraordinary opportunities to emerge, innovate and reinvent themselves.” – comments Filippo Spiezia, Founder & Executive Creative Director Digital Design Days.
Over the three days, more than 3,000 guests, including designers, developers, entrepreneurs, freelancers, brand managers, investors, and marketers, are expected to attend. The program features vertical roundtables on topics like AI, moderated by the Politecnico di Milano’s School of Design, and discussions on Digital Product Passports in the luxury and fashion industries, moderated by Sara Noggler and Marta Terenzani, Chief Design Officer at Diana Corp. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in workshops, masterclasses, and experience creative installations by international digital artists. Additionally, there will be areas for showcasing and testing innovative technologies, including Apple Vision Pro.
Alongside talks, learning sessions, and discussions, dedicated networking spaces will be available for speakers, partners, and participants. These areas will offer valuable opportunities to explore new collaborations and potential business ventures.
A sneak peek at the Digital Design Days speakers
This year’s edition features an impressive lineup of key speakers, including Raffaella Camera, former Head of Brands at Epic Games and a prominent figure in immersive technologies, and Cathy Hackl, widely known as the “godmother of the Metaverse” and an expert in space computing and mixed reality, who will explore the field of Spatial Computing. Adriana Pereira and Kerry Murphy, Co-Founders of The Fabricant, the world’s first virtual fashion house, will discuss how AI is transforming opportunities within the fashion industry. Cindy Chastain, Head of Customer Experience & Design at Mastercard, will examine the evolution of the behavioral economy and its growing importance for businesses. Additionally, Eric Jordan and Tony Novak of 2advanced Studio will share insights into the future of design and its potential developments.
During the event, Ouchhh, a pioneering studio known for its AI and big data-based digital sculptures, will present for the first time in Italy its remarkable installation “Human Cell Atlas,” which has captivated international audiences. The event will also feature a live performance of Neuro AI Data Art, a collaboration between human brain activity and artificial intelligence, resulting in a real-time cognitive AI EEG data painting installation. Another standout installation will be “Onirica” by fuse* studio, an audiovisual work that delves into the dream state by interpreting the creative capabilities of the human mind during sleep through synthetic languages. Using algorithms to translate textual content into images, “Onirica” offers a unique reflection on the relationship between humans and machines, and between tool and creator.
Another standout initiative is “Catalyst,” a new format conceived by Filippo Spiezia in collaboration with RevThink. This project will bring together 20 of the world’s leading design studios and 20 representatives from top brands across various industries. Throughout the event, numerous daily activities will be organized to foster connections between creative production companies and brands, encouraging collaboration and partnership. These sessions will also serve as a platform for discussing the future of marketing and digital strategies for brands.
The event’s partners and supporters include Poli.Design and the Politecnico di Milano – School of Design, along with Confimi Industria Digitale as patrons. Key sponsors include RIVE App from the United States, a real-time animation software for creating production-ready interactive motion graphics; Nexi, Europe’s leading PayTech company; Diana Corp, known for blending aesthetic culture, strategic expertise, and high-level design to craft e-commerce experiences in fashion, luxury, and lifestyle; Sketchin from Italy; and Protopie from South Korea.
