Playfulness and elegance in Virginia Cei’s lighting collection Gocce
Italamp’s new Gocce collection captures the magic of Crystal Ball toys in minimalist fixtures designed for contemporary contract spaces.

The Italian lighting manufacturer Italamp celebrated a remarkable milestone at Euroluce 2025, marking five decades of work in the artistry of light. This golden anniversary was held with the presentation of new collections in an exceptional setting, designed by Studio Salaris. The vibrant stage wrapped visitors in carefully curated colours, with every detail designed to showcase Italamp’s evolution from an innovative startup to an established company in the industry.
Among the captivating new introductions, the Gocce collection by Virginia Cei stands out as a testament to Italamp’s ability to balance tradition with contemporary flair. The suspension lighting draws inspiration from an unexpectedly playful source: Crystal Ball toys, those ethereal bubbles that captivate children’s imagination. This reference choice reflects a broader trend in modern design, where everyday objects are elevated into luxury items, as the most elaborate solutions often emerge from simple observations.

This genesis is deeply personal to the designer Virginia Cei, who found herself rediscovering the magic of these spheres through her own son’s eyes. The connection between generations sparked a creative vision that would transform those childhood memories into sophisticated lighting design. “I wanted to translate that ludic and poetic imagery into an essential design sign where light becomes suspended matter, capable of generating engaging atmospheres,” explains Cei.

The collection embodies this vision through its minimalist yet striking design. Each fixture features a glass sphere that appears to float effortlessly, almost magically, diffusing warm, enveloping light throughout a room. The seemingly simple concept requires careful engineering to achieve the desired effect of weightless suspension while maintaining structural integrity.

Gocce addresses the diverse needs of modern contract spaces through its dual configuration options. The vertical suspension version offers a compact solution for intimate settings, while the horizontal variant provides a more dramatic linearity, suitable for larger areas or dining spaces. The horizontal configuration particularly excels in creating visual continuity across surfaces, making it ideal for hotel lobbies, conference rooms, or restaurant spaces where linearity can guide circulation patterns. The collection is available in three colour combinations, which mix a cool matte Midnight Grey, a neutral glossy White, and a theatrical Lava Red glossy finish, all chosen to complement contemporary interior palettes.

Italamp’s presentation of Gocce at the Euroluce fair reinforces the company’s commitment to continuous experimentation while still honouring its manufacturing and excellence heritage. The collection shows how traditional craftsmanship can embrace a contemporary lighting design language, creating products that resonate both with nostalgia and with forward-thinking aesthetics. As Italamp continues its journey into the next half-century, Gocce demonstrates its ability to find inspiration in unexpected places, transforming simple childhood wonder into sophisticated design solutions for contemporary spaces.
