Designed in collaboration by Copenhagen-based Birgitte Due Madsen and Jonas Trampedach for their partnership with Karakter – ‘Moby’ is an extraordinary sculptural table lamp beautifully brimming with intriguing contrasts, balancing a comforting light with a futuristic striking aesthetic.
Birgitte Due Madsen’s portfolio brilliantly ranges from handmade, custom and serial furniture to sculptures as well as unique objects.
Through an autonomous and unpretentious approach – her eclectic products are characterized by a subtle poetic color palette, tactile textures and playful geometry.
On the other hand, skillfully based on clear principles – Jonas Trampedach’s alluring collection centers around furniture as well as lighting.
With a flexible varied approach to materials and techniques, his work spans from mass production design to limited edition one-of-a-kind pieces.
“Our collective fondness of a soft, delicate material typically used for fine art and prototypes – led to this creation of Moby” says Madsen and Trampedach.
Featuring a soothing Scandinavian feel, this minimalistic object was originally crafted in plaster but has now been translated into – a durable matte acrylic material with a similar rich silky-smooth expression and comprises an integrated LED light with an on-cord dimmer.
A pleasingly innovative abstract form – its light source is seamlessly encased within a curved block that sits above the main body.
When switched on, the soft light further unfolds and effortlessly illuminates the cavity – instantly drawing one’s eye to its organic curves.
