A contemporary coffee table for you but a cozy bed for your cat – meet Igloo

Shared by both owners and their felines, Portugal-based Teixeira Design Studio fabricates ‘Igloo’ – a modern multifunctional coffee table that seamlessly integrates a warm shelter for a cat without disrupting the interiors of your home.

“This concept was simply born from the thought of – one’s home becoming cluttered with pet objects and toys as well as how cats instinctively seek small corners and dark spots to rest” says founder João Teixeira.

With a Scandinavian aesthetic, this one-of-a-kind object brilliantly features – soothingly bright hues, simple shapes as well as a contrasting material palette comprising smooth white and light wooden surfaces.

Crafting its bed first, a minimalistic spherical shape was chosen for a cozier look and feel – skillfully taking advantage of a cat’s natural curling resting position. 

Harmoniously blending form and function, this innovative piece of furniture’s side connectors protrude from the sphere to effortlessly attach to the four table legs, above which lies the rounded tabletop.

The white wooden finish of the tabletop further helps create a relation with the white plastic sphere nestled discreetly underneath it – connected by smooth, light wooden table legs. 

“At the points where the legs intersect with the tabletop, are smoothly carved cut outs – making the Igloo a more sophisticated and visually appealing product” Teixeira adds.
