Back in full strength – This was the Design Month Graz 2022

With a lot of international participation plus a powerful presence in public spaces, the design festival clearly showed why Graz is a City of Design – with an impact far beyond the city limits.

We visited it and here is our highlights article.

Eberhard Schrempf, General Manager of Creative Industries Styria, looks back on the past weeks positively:

”In line with the program focus ‘Green Transition,’ many of the events on the program calendar addressed the role the creative industries ought to play in the Europe- wide transformation process. The program pointed to exactly where we are headed.”

The exhibition “Around Autofiction,” for example, featured contributions by the Creative Cities on the question of mobility, while the focus of the European Creative Industries Summit held in Graz was on “Great Green Creative Industries”.

In the city center, 37 shops with a wide range of projects and products joined “Design in the City”. And from “Design Everyday” and “ZweckZwei – Shift Circular Design” at the Minoritenzentrum Graz to “The Chairman” and “Taste the Ortwein” at designforum Steiermark, all exhibitions were well attended.

The latter is still open until June 26th, 2022. The new format “Design-Clinic” was created as a low- threshold service offered by the design community in order to make design more tangible for everyone.

Interested laypeople or professionals were welcome to visit the clinic for a free initial consultation on their design problems.
