Design Week Mexico 2025: a manifesto for creativity “Designed in Mexico”

Over 17 years, Design Week Mexico has transformed October into the country’s month of design, positioning Mexico City as a hub where global and Latin American creativity meet.

Mexico City will once again turn into an open laboratory of ideas this October, when Design Week Mexico celebrates its 17th edition. With the theme “Designed in Mexico”, the event is not just an exhibition but a call to action: empowering the creative community and reaffirming design as a cultural, social, and economic force .

The 2025 program reflects the power of design as both memory and projection. Public installations reinterpret history, experimental projects test new sustainable frontiers, and intergenerational collaborations show how collective creativity shapes tomorrow. Architectural heritage will also be reimagined through adaptive reuse, a theme increasingly central in global design debates.

Argentina: guest country 2025

This year’s guest of honor is Argentina, bringing a complementary voice to the Mexican narrative. The collaboration goes beyond diplomacy: it’s co-creation across borders, connecting Argentina’s conceptual rigor and material sensitivity with Mexico’s rich traditions. The result will be a transcontinental dialogue, celebrating diversity and exploring shared futures for Latin American design.

Focus México: a plural map of creativity

For the first time, the focus will not be on a single state but on a collective showcase of regions. Designers and artisans from Yucatán, Oaxaca, Jalisco, Chiapas, Guerrero, Puebla, Chihuahua, Michoacán, State of Mexico, and Mexico City will share their work, materials, and processes. In this framework, Visión y Tradición will connect artisans from Oaxaca and Yucatán with Argentine designers, generating pieces born from intercultural and intergenerational collaboration.

Why it matters

Over 17 years, Design Week Mexico has transformed October into the country’s month of design, positioning Mexico City as a hub where global and Latin American creativity meet. By bridging diplomacy, experimentation, and local heritage, the event underscores how design can be both a cultural engine and a social catalyst. As the organizers emphasize, “Designed in Mexico” is more than a theme — it’s a manifesto to transform environments, connect cultures, and project Mexican creativity worldwide.
