Nicholas Baker is a designer based in Brooklyn, originally from North Carolina. He launched his professional career after graduating from the Savannah College of Art and Design, initially working for a pet company while freelancing during his free time.
In 2017, he relocated to New York City to establish his own design studio. Nicholas Baker Studio is dedicated to creating a wide range of products, including furniture, lighting, housewares, and everyday objects.

WAIT WEIGHT is a unique combination of a paperweight and a timer. The concept originated from a personal need to reduce the frequency of checking the phone. Placing a substantial object on the phone and setting a timer proved to be an effective way to achieve this. Additionally, Wait Weight can serve as a practical paperweight or even function as a doorstop. This innovative product was featured in the 2019 Sound and Vision exhibition organized by the American Design Club.
The STRETCH CLOCK is a creative concept designed to transform everyday objects into functional clocks using a large rubber band. The idea for this unique clock arose from the habit of discovering discarded items on the streets and wanting to repurpose them. What sets the Stretch clock apart is its reversible nature, offering both horizontal and vertical orientations. This versatility empowers individuals to craft their own distinctive clocks that match their personal style and preferences.
The PIXEL LIGHT showcases a distinctive diffused radiating grid pattern reminiscent of retro 8-bit graphics. Collaborating with Gantri, I leveraged their 3D printing manufacturing technique to create a light that would harness this unique quality. Through experimenting with shining light through a 3D print, I discovered the captivating illuminated effect produced by the internal grid structure. This discovery served as the inspiration for the Pixel light. By day, its unassuming round form features a concealed grid behind its circular face. However, at night, the light comes to life, revealing the grid and offering a delightful and surprising visual experience.
