DesignTech, the place for design innovators and entrepreneurs
After more than two years of work and research, the Technological Innovation Hub in the design sector opened its headquarters in MIND – Milano Innovation District
In the beating heart of the Made in Italy economy, Designtech finds its natural place to represent, in a dynamic and competitive ecosystem, the world of design, which extends from the furniture sector to that of construction, including architecture and real estate.
“It is an important day; we celebrate a project that two years ago was just a vision” – explains Ivan Tallarico, founder of Designtech and CEO of Hi-Interiors.
“Creating an ecosystem of spaces and services to support those who want to conceive, design and build the habitats of the future has been my dream ever since I worked by the sea in the family woodworking in Southern Italy.
Milan and MIND are the right place to start making this vision come true. Lendlease is the ideal partner to carry out such an ambitious project”.
Designtech aims to bring companies that symbolize excellence in the national and international design sector closer to innovative startups to design solutions capable of improving and revolutionizing the way we live.
Designtech plays a role of synthesis between design and technological innovation, acting as a bridge and cultural mediator between the companies that have made design a central economic sector for the Italian economy and the new generation of digital entrepreneurs, creatives and designers who look to the future from Milan.
The Hub was born on the initiative of Ivan Tallarico, founder and CEO of Hi-Interiors, and a group of entrepreneurs and professionals with complementary experiences in the fields of industrial design, automotive, nautical, hospitality, fashion and media.
The infrastructures that make up the hub are designed, built and managed directly by Designtech as a living lab to foster dynamics of open innovation, startup acceleration, venture building, rapid prototyping and testing of new products and services in the aforementioned sectors.
Among the hub facilities that Designtech aims to build there are coworking spaces, with adjoining showrooms, a cofactory and a coliving.
The space serves as anchors for real estate redevelopment and urban regeneration operations, leveraging the Designtech community, offering developers access to innovative methods of generative procurement and, at the same time, concrete opportunities for new solutions’ experimentation in a real environment for startups and ecosystem companies.
Already in the choice of its name, the Technological Innovation Hub emphasises its role as a synthesis between design and technological innovation, acting as a bridge and cultural mediator between the companies that have made design a central economic sector for the Italian economy.
