Designed for photography enthusiasts, the brand has recently launched this original product with a dual function: on the one hand, a camera with semi-professional features. On the other, a built-in light meter.
What if we could photograph our favourite subjects without having to check the final result on a small camera screen or through a conventional lens? The answer already exists, is available on the market, and is called the Godox Transparent Viewfinder Camera C100, designed for analogue photography enthusiasts and lifestyle creators.
Produced by Godox, a Shenzhen-based brand founded in 1993 and specialising in high-quality photography equipment and accessories, the C100 combines the vintage appeal of toy cameras with the smart features of a digital device, while simplifying the complexities of traditional exposure settings.

Transparency and multifunctionality
The Godox C100’s distinctive feature is not only its transparent optical viewfinder, but its integration with a built-in light meter. The former allows users to compose images by looking directly at their subject without distractions. Essential shooting information is discreetly and functionally overlaid onto the field of view, including framing guides and grids, the selected mode, battery level, and exposure settings.
Below the screen are two buttons: the first is used to select the image format and adjust settings, while the second acts as the shutter button.
The light meter, meanwhile, allows the C100 to measure brightness across the central 25% of the frame, instantly providing optimal exposure readings. This feature makes it more than a simple camera, as it can also function as a reliable external light meter – ideal for analogue photography purists.
The design of the C100
The product has been designed to be extremely compact and lightweight, measuring approximately 10×7 cm with a thickness of just 2 cm and a net weight of only 65 g. The transparent screen measures 6×5 cm and offers a light transmittance of over 50%.
Despite its compact format and resemblance to a toy camera, the C100 can capture both photographs and videos in four different aspect ratios. Alongside the cinematic 16:9 format and the classic 4:3 ratio for everyday shots, users can choose a more documentary-inspired 3:2 format or the square 1:1 ratio, offering a more creative, digital-inspired approach.
The C100’s technical features include a TF card (microSD) slot supporting cards of up to 128 GB, as well as quick and easy data transfer to smartphones or computers via USB-C. Its battery offers approximately two hours of continuous shooting, and the camera can operate in temperatures ranging from 5°C to 40°C. It is a product that brings together the playful concept of a toy camera and the smart functionality of digital technology.
Beyond the camera
Following the rise of mini and toy cameras, Godox’s retro-inspired product is as much a fashion accessory as it is a camera. But the C100 introduces something more: its key innovation is the transparent display, which makes photography a more intuitive and playful experience. The product is already available at a relatively affordable price. In Italy, it can be purchased online for €49. The kit can also be configured with an optional soft case with a strap and a microSD card.
