The Lapitec Chef is a hidden induction unit with removable cooking mats

Original sintered stone manufacturer Lapitec presents a cooking area, that when switched off, is reverted to a safe worktop where any activity can be carried out.

After years of research and development, the company presents Lapitec Chef, a cooking system completely concealed under the sintered stone worktop and activated by a technological Cooking Mat. The system is patented, with the electrothermal part developed in collaboration with the University of Padua, Italy.

We have spent several years fine-tuning this product, which is patented, with the electrothermal developed in collaboration with the University of Padua. Our ambition is to make Lapitec the reference surface par excellence in the kitchen world, at an international level, and Lapitec Chef is an indispensable and unique tool through which we can move towards this goal”, says Marcello Toncelli, who leads the company.

Lapitec Chef functions using a dual-layer cooking mat embedded with magnetic sensors. When placed on the countertop, it engages with the induction units hidden beneath the surface, activating the touch controls and enabling the system to operate across four cooking zones, including a bridge mode for larger cookware.

Once the mat is removed, the induction system and controls automatically deactivate. The only visible elements on the Lapitec countertop are subtle engravings indicating the mat’s placement, ensuring maximum safety, even in households with children.

The worktop, therefore, remains completely free, distinguished only by a display and by small engravings that highlight the full-body nature of the material (without digital prints on the surface).

All this facilitates cleaning, as well as allowing the worktop to be used for other activities, from preparing food and plating up to hosting social occasions.

Moreover, Lapitec is non-porous, non-absorbent and resistant to chemicals, making it ideal for both indoor and outdoor kitchens.

Lapitec Chef is fully compatible with all induction-ready cookware. The cooking mat, designed from black food-safe silicone, includes a patterned surface for improved performance and is dishwasher-friendly. Once the mat is removed, the countertop—crafted from full-body sintered stone and free of silica—offers a sleek, uninterrupted surface that can be tailored to any color or finish from the Lapitec range.

Aesthetically refined and technologically advanced, Lapitec Chef is compatible with all the colours and finishes of the Lapitec range, optimising the aesthetic and technical potential of sintered stone.
