MobED, the mobility platform revolutionizing the market

Ready for production this year, Hyundai Motor Group has created a versatile, next-generation autonomous solution that combines automotive engineering and artificial intelligence to redefine our relationship with robots.

MobED is the innovative mobility robot developed by the Robotics LAB division of the Hyundai Motor Group. It is a product that aims to set new standards in the global market and has already won a major award, the Best of Innovation Award, in the Robotics category at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, the largest international trade show dedicated to innovation.

A journey that began four years ago, at CES 2022, when MobED was presented as a concept: a fully autonomous mobility platform that leverages AI systems for various industrial and everyday applications. A month ago, at the International Robot Exhibition 2025 (iREX 2025), Hyundai Motor Group announced its readiness for serial production by 2026 with two models, MobED Basic and MobED Pro, scheduled for sale in the first half of the year.

The product’s success lies in its innovative approach to robotics functionality, defined by three pillars: Adaptive Mobility for the hardware, Intuitive Autonomy for the software, and Infinite Journey for the applications. As Dong Jin Hyun, Vice President and Head of Robotics LAB at Hyundai Motor Group, explains: “Beyond a simple mobility platform, MobED offers a next-generation solution adaptable to diverse industries and everyday life. MobED will set new standards in the global robotics market and accelerate a future where humans and robots coexist.”

Analyzing the various features, the term Adaptive Mobility refers to the cutting-edge Eccentric Mechanism that actively stabilizes the platform by adjusting its posture and height on uneven or inclined surfaces, and to the navigation system that adapts to various environments, ranging from narrow indoor paths to rough outdoor terrain, eliminating the need to design robots specifically for each situation.

Regarding the software, MobED aims to democratize robotics for everyone by simplifying autonomous navigation technology, offering safety, accessibility, and ease of use without requiring technical expertise.

Among its key strengths is a Control Interface composed of a large touchscreen controller and an intuitive 3D user experience. Artificial intelligence-based sensors combined with LiDAR technology and cameras perceive the surrounding environment, autonomously recognize and avoid any obstacle, and predictive navigation algorithms ensure safe and precise movements anywhere, whether in crowded environments or confined spaces.

MobED is defined as a modular platform because it adapts to various functions, from delivery and research to logistics and video production. With a customizable modular design, the robot supports universal mounting rails and APIs, allowing for easy integration of accessories for various tasks. With this solution, Hyundai has created endless possibilities for robotic applications, offering flexibility and true scalability unlike traditional robots.

Reinforcing this concept are two models with differentiated technologies and features: MobED Basic is designed as a foundation for research and development, offering users the flexibility to create customized applications without pre-installed autonomy features. The Pro version integrates advanced autonomy, sensors, LiDAR-camera, and additional features such as “follow-me” mode, and is ideal for outdoor or commercial applications.

The design is characterized by the “Refined Edge” concept through a harmony of lines, technical precision, and elegance. High-quality metals enhance the aesthetics and ensure smooth transitions through curves. The result is a robotic platform that blends practicality and refinement, reaffirming the Group’s commitment to both innovation and design excellence.

With MobED, Hyundai Motor Group has succeeded in developing a versatile solution that, thanks to its adaptability and autonomy, is capable of setting new standards for robotics engineering.
