As their recent submission to Render Weekly in response to the challenge of creating a custom light shade that seamlessly interfaces with the provided socket – Bored Eye fabricates a fascinating Nest Lamp. Based in Essex, UK and an anagram of Bedoyere – Bored Eye is a design studio brilliantly founded by industrial product designer Liam de la Bedoyere.
Focusing on crafting conceptual objects that are anything but boring by harmoniously blending function with style and imagination – “the core idea for the illuminating Nest Lamp stemmed from deciding to accentuate and make its long cables the highlighting feature, instead of simply trying to hide it.“

“Being a big fan of Gantri and their ethos as well as their utilization of 3D printing lighting products, undeniably inspired me to a great extent as well” says Bedoyere.
This innovative minimalistic object appearing to be a nest for a giant egg lamp to sit in – skillfully uses a plant polymer body with a soft-touch matte finish avoiding hard, unflattering lighting.
“On its own, it simply seems to be a messy pile of cables. But – give it a story and the prop of a giant egg, and it transforms from a mess to a relatable form achievable by most users” he adds.
Additionally, its eclectic warm opal shade diffuses the light for a natural, evenly-distributed glow.
“The novel extra-long cord further gives one broader freedom on the lamp’s placement as well as interaction in its environment” says Bedoyere.
