RayNeo iO, the smart glasses rethinking our relationship with technology
With real-time translation, a teleprompter function and productivity tools, RayNeo’s new model highlights the potential of smart glasses while keeping user privacy in focus.

Introduced at IFA 2026 in Berlin by Shenzhen-based brand RayNeo, the new iO model presents a version of smart glasses that, in addition to providing information and AI assistance, prioritises privacy and integrates productivity tools directly into the user’s field of view, reducing the need to reach for a smartphone.
Available for purchase since September, the model features a transparent display described as equivalent to viewing a 33-inch screen from a distance of approximately 2 metres. The information displayed is designed to be clearly visible to the wearer while remaining invisible to people around them.

RayNeo iO Smart Glasses:
The design of the iO Smart Glasses
Weighing just 33 g, the smart glasses combine a monochrome MicroLED display with diffractive waveguide technology, a system that projects digital images directly in front of the user’s eyes, overlaying them onto the real world without obstructing their view.
The design takes inspiration from classic eyewear styles developed in France during the 1930s and 1940s, featuring the distinctive Crown Panto frame. It combines different metallic materials: the main structure is made from AZ91D magnesium-aluminium alloy, while the temples are made from aerospace-grade titanium. The model is available in two colours, Polar Night (dark grey) and Dune (gold), with the option of fitting customised prescription lenses.

A new tool for the work of the future
RayNeo, a global brand specialising in the development and production of augmented reality (AR) and artificial intelligence (AI) glasses, has gone beyond creating a new pair of smart glasses to develop a practical tool for today’s increasingly dynamic working environments. The device allows users to access different types of information without having to take their smartphone out of their pocket. A dashboard provides direct access to the field of view, displaying basic information such as the time, weather conditions, battery level, calendar, activities and reminders, as well as stock prices, emails, time zones and smartphone notifications.
Another important feature for professional use is real-time translation. With an indicative latency of just one second, the glasses provide translations in real time through subtitles or audio, supporting a total of 55 languages and 109 accents. The translated text appears directly in the user’s field of view, allowing him/her to follow a conversation without looking at the smartphone. The glasses can also be used as a teleprompter to display presentations and public-speaking notes, helping speakers to maintain eye contact with their audience.

To capture voice, RayNeo iO integrates four microphones and a bone-conduction sensor. Recording can be started using the Smart Crown, a physical rotating control located on the right temple. The system can convert recordings into transcripts and automatically generate meeting summaries and notes, as well as identify tasks and useful information that emerge during a conversation.
Last but not least, the glasses feature an integrated AI assistant. Activated by the voice command “Hey, RayNeo”, the digital assistant allows users to ask questions, obtain information and control various functions hands-free. The system is designed to support multiple AI models, including free options such as RayNeo AI and Gemini, as well as subscription-based services. Compatible models listed by the brand include Gemini, ChatGPT, Claude and DeepSeek.
Display, optical technology and technical specifications
The display uses a Blue Lake optical system that provides 97% optical transparency, with brightness of up to 1,300 nits to ensure visibility in bright environments and outdoors. The information is displayed within a limited area of the user’s field of view, rather than covering the entire visual field, thanks to the Firefly Nano optical engine.

The RayNeo iO Smart Glasses use Bluetooth 5.4 for connectivity and do not feature a camera. This absence can be considered a privacy-oriented feature, as it reduces the possibility of accidentally recording people or environments compared with camera-equipped smart glasses. The glasses include an indicator that signals when recording or translation functions are active. The brand also states that the product was developed according to Privacy by Design principles and in compliance with GDPR standards.
The model features a 240 mAh battery, providing up to 48 hours of standard use and up to 250 hours in standby mode. For smart functions such as translation, battery life is rated at up to 6 hours. RayNeo iO is compatible with both Android and iOS devices and carries an IP54 rating for protection against dust and water. The product also includes a USB-C charging accessory and a set of nose pads and silicone temple tips, while a charging case is available as an optional accessory.
