“The range has understated elegance and is subtle in its design. It is easy to understand how the furniture is used and it should be easy to integrate and combine in different environments and contexts. It was also important that the products in the series radiate honest and genuine materials,” says Mattias Ståhlbom, designer and co-founder of TAF Studio.
Distinct from typical chests of drawers, the back is intentionally crafted to be visible, enabling its placement at the room’s center, serving as a sideboard, or functioning as a sophisticated room divider that incorporates storage.
The name “Relief” references the refined edging that produces a relief-like effect, lending the design a graphic, handcrafted appearance. While its design might seem straightforward at first glance, Relief distinguishes itself through a blend of superior manufacturing, detailed craftsmanship, and practical functionality, making it unique among comparable systems.
The design of the system cleverly conceals a surprisingly spacious storage area within, belying its tidy external appearance. Moreover, TAF Studio has curated a harmonious selection of five colors, allowing for the creation of personalized combinations through nuanced mixing, especially as the system is expanded.
For String Furniture, sustainability has been a cornerstone in the development of the Relief collection, ensuring eco-friendly practices at every stage. It is shipped in flat-pack form, a method that substantially benefits the environment by minimizing transport emissions.
The collection’s adaptability means it can evolve and adjust to suit various interiors, spaces, and tastes. Its timeless, minimalist design, along with the use of high-quality materials and construction, ensures that Relief is a system designed for longevity.
“It is an extremely well-thought-out system that fits in all rooms, and with its straightforward design enhances the expression in all environments, regardless of how it is combined and placed,” says Bo Hellberg, Chief Marketing Officer at String Furniture.
