Enhancing productivity and letting one decide between having more surface to work or space for storage, Portugal-based Teixeira Design Studio innovatively fabricates ‘Stretch’ – a conceptual warm wooden desk featuring a fascinating adaptable leather book stand.

“Almost reminiscent of how paper rolls work – the idea behind the Stretch desk concept was to have a functional yet playful leather book stand that users could adjust through a swiveling pivot point placed on both sides for convenience” says founder João Teixeira.

Considering all kinds of users and how often each one might need to change their setup – the adjustability added to the leatherback stand seamlessly enables one to change its depth according to varying needs.

Brilliantly adding value and uniqueness – this can easily be flattened to the tabletop by fully rolling the leather piece, creating a wider workspace.

On the other hand, by effortlessly unrolling the stand one can have more room for storage, keeping working tools and more away from sight. Additionally, the skillful overall play between wooden elements and its intricate details, makes this minimalistic piece of furniture look contemporary and sophisticated with a Scandinavian aesthetic.

“For instance, the legs’ rounded edges seamlessly touch the middle section of the tabletop which is slightly recessed for a more dynamic and sleek look” Teixeira adds.
