The COBBO bed’s overhead storage makes clever use of empty space

The COBBO bed is a smart piece of furniture for the modern interior with ample storage to boot.

Berlin-based architect and designer Michael Hilgers has created COBBO, a contemporary single bed designed with student housing, small apartments, and guest rooms in mind.

Designed for retail brand OTTO, the bed sports a simple Nordic-inspired design with solid oak legs and white storage cabinets that make the most of the empty space above the sleeping area.

The bed frame features a slightly tapered design with a pair of wooden frames at the header and the footer of the bed that support the storage unit.

This serves a dual function, supporting the slightly narrower storage space whilst giving the bed an overall feeling of physical lightness.

Smart storage for minimal interiors

The slim storage is split into four compartments with four doors (two on either side) that open to reveal a handy nook for storing items like bedding or books.

The designer found a a smart way of making use of empty space and helping people in smaller spaces reduce clutter. Meanwhile, the style and aesthetic paired with the light and bright materials keeps a chic, minimal interior.
