A modern and elegant grooming salon by Yakusha Design

Yakusha Design created a laconic and comfy grooming salon that keeps the socialization between pet owners in mind located in Kyiv, Ukraine.

Time spent with pets is never wasted” – this famous phrase about the human-pet relationship by Sigmund Freud drove the Ukrainian based studio Yakusha Design to develop a project of a full-service grooming salon for cats and dogs.

The high ceiling with 200 square-meter space includes 3 main zones: a grooming section with beauty-care services such as bathing, trimming & styling, a big lounge area that provides pampering, and a stress-free experience for pet owners, and an area for personal hygiene.

Yakusha Designed used light beige wood for furniture, quartzite rock for the floor, and steel for walls mixed with ceramic décor and soft shapes of modular sofas to create the ambience of the grooming salon

For the interior of the grooming salon for pets that is located in one of the elite areas of the city, the designers chose a warm creamy color palette and high-quality natural materials. Light beige wood for the furniture, quartzite rock for the floor, and steel for walls were mixed with ceramic décor and soft shapes of modular sofas.

Yakusha Design also used the contrast in dimensions by emphasizing the height of walls in the space and through the earthiness of sofas. Conventionally, the interior has been developed in the horizontal plane, giving the space even more volume. Another design featured used is the abundance of circle shapes in the interior, round sconces and mirror, rounded sofas, and tables are used in order to add softness to the space.

The main idea of interior was to keep it laconic and comfy. While the pets are taken care of, their owners are comfortably sitting on the soft islands, relaxing in the lounge bar with a cup of coffee or tea in hand. Visitors are also offered a wide assortment of caring products for domestic animals in a store ranging from organic shampoos to fragrances.

The main challenge of this project was to create not just ‘another grooming salon’ in our city, but a space for pet owners to socializing in while they are waiting for their furry friends” – said chief designer and founder of studio Yakusha Design, Victoria Yakusha. “We have a Belgian shepherd for 5 years now and he loves his little beauty routine. Therefore, the project was very moving and fun for us“.
