The palm-sized home robot called ‘Ebo’ is as cute as it gets
Ebo is a mobile, self-charging, family-friendly robot that allows you to connect with your loved ones at all times.
We don’t mind robots taking over if they look like this. Ebo seems like something dreamed up by Pixar and looking at the gadget’s origins, it’s not hard to understand why. Ebo was designed as a pet companion by the Chinese robotics company Enabot two years ago.
Back then, the WALL-E-looking device could autonomously roll around the house, keeping your cat busy whilst you were away. Rolling around on a set of wheels with a built-in mic to communicate with your furry friend, Ebo used LED lights and a built-in laser to offer endless hours of entertainment.
The Ebo robot can still do all that but the updated version comes packed with a few extra tricks. Thanks to a new companion app, users can control the robot and move it around the house from wherever they are.
Using the HD camera, microphone and speakers, it’s also possible to see, hear and talk to whoever is at home. For extra points when it comes to creepiness (or security, depending on how you look at it), users can snap photos and videos 24 hours a day from its dock or going out on scheduled patrols, storing them on an internal SD card.

Housed inside a little cute ball shape made from durable materials, Ebo is loaded with other features including ToF sensors that can detect obstacles. It can stop when necessary, preventing crashes and falls.
It comes in two models, the SE and the Air, the latter being the more advanced version, which includes the laser pet toy feature and a more powerful processor meaning faster movement speeds and a drop sensor that keeps it from falling off tables or down the stairs.
Ebo is basically a home security system wrapped up in a pet comforting device, which is perfect if you have a guard dog that’s not up to the job. Up to five different users can create a profile using the app and take control of the robot for various purposes. If not, Ebo has an autonomous mode for those that prefer a low-maintenance home-security option.
