This sculptural table lamp is inspired by Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner
Australian design studio B-TD elevates contemporary interior spaces with the Fold Table Lamp.
Designed and made in Australia, the B-TD range of lighting is contemporary with a minimal and modern aesthetic, as demonstrated here with the Fold Table Lamp.
Drawing from the angular architecture seen in Ridley Scott’s 1982 film Blade Runner, the Fold Table Lamp boasts a welcomingly futuristic design.
Minimalist yet sculptural, it deploys a pair of folded aluminium fins, which wrap around a solid block of marble.
When embarking on this project, the design team wanted to create something that would complement contemporary interiors, imbuing it with a romantic ambience.
By housing the bulb inside of the aluminium casing, they have achieved a diffused lighting effect that fulfills this objective.
Two editions of the fold table lamp are available.
The first one matches a solid block of grey marble with an anodized ‘Deep Sea’ aluminum finish.
The second features a base of raw travertine and a brushed aluminum finish.
Inspired by the four seasons, designer Xavier Delvallee has created a series of lighting inspired by biophilic design, discover the Julia collection.
Craftsmanship and digital technologies in equal measure
The Fold Table Lamp is the product of both craftsmanship and digital technologies, as is the case with every B-DT product.
Each piece is assembled by hand in their Melbourne, Australia-based studio with signature metal finishes often brushed by hand, and patinas applied meticulously by a talented team of craftspeople.
Meanwhile, custom metal extrusions, laser cutting and computer-controlled folding all contribute to the final design.
As such, the Fold Table Lamp sits perfectly within B-TD’s wider collection of sculptural lighting, which “serve the needs of modern, innovative interiors”.
Founded in 2011 by designer and creator Jonathan Ben-Tovimin, the company has established a distinct aesthetic inspired by a striking mix of natural and industrial materials.
It seeks to create progressive, modern pieces that subtly express a distinct design language—an objective that the Fold Table Lamp completely fulfils.
“Our brand is modern, minimal, refined, with subtle nods to luxury,” says Ben-Tovim.
“We present materials honestly and aim to reduce every product to its most essential expression.”
