Abstracta has been at the forefront of creating enhanced soundscapes since its inception in 1972, establishing itself as a pioneer in the acoustics field. The company offers an extensive array of solutions tailored to various environments and needs, including ingeniously designed sound-absorbent screens and surfaces, as well as innovative furniture that features integrated acoustic properties.
Through close collaboration with some of the world’s leading contemporary designers, Abstracta continually seeks new methods to improve soundscapes. The manufacturing of its furniture takes place in Småland, Sweden, serving a global clientele. Abstracta operates as a key component of the Lammhults Design Group.
Projects
ABSTRACTA AGILE – Designed by Studio Stockholm, Abstracta Agile integrates all the necessary tools for genuine agile work into a single furniture item. This piece features a dual-sided design that serves complementary functions. One side is equipped with a large digital screen, ideal for conducting remote meetings, while the opposite side boasts a high-quality magnetic whiteboard, facilitating physical note-taking and planning.
ABSTRACTA X WALL OF ART – Abstracta has teamed up with the art platform Wall of Art to create an innovative solution that marries acoustics and artistry. The goal is to foster serene auditory environments while infusing spaces with distinct personality and character through the works of intriguing artists.
AKUNOK – Akunok by Maja Ganszyniec, a clever blend of 'acoustic' and 'nook,' focuses on crafting deliberate private spaces without the need for fully enclosed rooms. From an acoustical standpoint, it stands out as one of the finest, earning high praise from the independent interior acoustics specialist, Acoustic Facts. Its design, characterized by elegance, simplicity, and transparency, subtly nods to Japanese architectural aesthetics.
HOLLY – Designed by Runa Klock & Hallgeir Homstvedt, Holly stands out as both sculptural and mysterious, engaging with the interplay of light, reflection, and shadow. It is not merely a lamp with acoustic features nor an acoustic piece of furniture that incorporates lighting. In Holly, the practical aspects do not overshadow each other. Instead, it represents a harmonious blend of form and function.
MOON – The ambiance of a room is greatly influenced by its soundscape and lighting. The Moon acoustic lamp, designed by Thomas Bernstrand, is a masterful amalgamation of these elements. Bernstrand's extensive background in lighting design, combined with his keen interest in acoustics, has culminated in this creation. Moon, with its globe-shaped design, offers not only innovative aesthetics and outstanding acoustical features but also delivers directed lighting of unparalleled quality.
VIKA – Designed by Khodi Feiz, Vika stands as a sculptural floor screen that not only emits ambient light but also effectively handles both low-frequency and high-frequency sounds. Its design encapsulates and absorbs sound while discreetly housing the light source within. The indirect lighting from the screen contributes to a warm and motivating environment. At its core, Vika features a soft, sound-dampening material that includes recycled PET bottles, all enveloped in Texfel acoustic felt.
ZEN POD – Designed by Staffan Holm, Zen Pod caters to areas of frequent interaction and movement, such as universities, hospitals, or contemporary office buildings. It serves as an acoustic sanctuary, establishing optimal settings for digital gatherings, serene discussions, and concentrated tasks. Additionally, its exterior acoustic barriers enhance the acoustic quality of the nearby space by absorbing ambient sounds instead of reflecting them, contributing to a more pleasant soundscape overall.
