The art of contrast: industrial precision meets upholstered ease

With its 2025 presentation at Milan Design Week, Desalto not only reaffirms its roots in metal craftsmanship but elevates its vision for the future of flexible, expressive living.

At this year’s Salone del Mobile in Milan, Desalto reaffirms its core identity with a bold statement: “Metal is our nature.” Through a dynamic exhibition curated by Artistic Director Francesco Rota, the brand introduces a series of innovative projects that expand its repertoire of upholstered and metal furniture, emphasizing customization, sustainability, and industrial heritage.

Designed by Rota, the brand’s stand was a carefully choreographed space of sculptural contrasts—pairing the tactile softness of new upholstered pieces with the austere solidity of metal structures. Industrial-inspired grid partitions and vivid Desalto blue tones framed the collections, merging expressive design with architectural clarity. The installation stood not merely as a showroom but as a visual manifesto of the company’s multifaceted identity.

Clip Collection

Building on last year’s debut, the Clip series adds a minimalist armchair and pouf. Both pieces maintain the sculptural lightness of the original chaise longue, achieved through elastic straps, integrated padding, and slender metal tubing that balance comfort and structural elegance.

Unlimited Collection

The modular Unlimited seating family gains three new elements: 90°, 45° Internal, and 45° External corner modules. These enhancements unlock a greater range of configurations—from intimate corners to expansive contract seating—allowing for tailored spatial solutions with the collection’s signature understated charm.

Sum Collection

A brand-new modular system, Sum, consists of square-based units (seat, backrest, pouf, armrests) that combine freely into linear or island compositions. Featuring removable covers and integrated table components, Sum blends ergonomic support with endless configurability, underscoring the Brand’s design for personal expression.

Zinco by Luca Pevere

A standout in this edition, the Zinco collection by Luca Pevere includes tables and bookcases made of folded sheet metal and visible mechanical joints. Stark, modular, and fully disassemblable, Zinco is a tribute to industrial purity—transforming utilitarian aesthetics into timeless design.

Italia Re-edition

Originally launched in 2011 to commemorate Italy’s unification, the Italia table/stool returns in a reimagined edition. Cast in matte-lacquered aluminum and shaped like the “I” beam of structural engineering, it stands as a symbolic fusion of national identity and design endurance.

With an updated catalog that introduces five new marbles, expanded wood and laminate finishes, 18 lacquer colors, and 7 galvanic options, Desalto deepens its commitment to personalization. A new configuration tool and iconic toolboxes (designed by Rota) make customization accessible to architects, retailers, and clients alike—transforming material exploration into a hands-on design journey.

The Brand’s 2025 campaign, styled by Studio Costacurta, juxtaposes gritty industrial tools with delicate floral motifs—capturing the brand’s dual essence: craftsmanship and aesthetic refinement. This continuity with past narratives reflects a thoughtful evolution of the company’s identity.

With its 2025 presentation, Desalto not only reaffirms its roots in metal craftsmanship but elevates its vision for the future of flexible, expressive living. From the precision of steel joints to the softness of modular seating, the brand once again sets the benchmark for contemporary design rooted in heritage and innovation.
