NIZUC Resort & Spa: a Mexican spirit, a Mayan soul
In July 2018, they have earned the distinguished AAA Five Diamond rating, a distinction reserved for the top luxury hotels in North America
NIZUC Resort & Spa opened in March 2013 and became fully operative the following September. The sophisticated pluri-awarded 5-star hotel has made Cancun shine again, smashing the region’s long-lasting stigma as the cheap all-inclusive destination mecca for spring breakers and party seekers only.
The exclusivity, class and elegance of NIZUC Resort & Spa have no parallels in all of Mexico
Nestled in the enclaves of the mangroves of Punta NIZUC in the Cancun Hotel Zone – NIZUC means “dog nose” in the Mayan Language -, the hotel brings luxury to a whole different level with its unique design, exceptional service, high-class dining, mesmerizing views of the turquoise Caribbean waters, and exclusive ESPA – the English branded Spa.
Architecture and design
The Hotel’s unique design merges a wealth of natural materials, from local stones, ziricote, and pucte woods, with modern technology, the finest Mexican art, and the Mayan heritage. In fact, the designers worked closely with the Museo Nacional de Antropología to replicate Mayan hieroglyphs and embed them throughout the hotel.
We can also catch a glimpse of the Asian influence that is typical of the so-affirmed Aman resorts, here reinterpreted in a cultural fusion with Mayan traditions and international décor.
Light magically transforms each space of the hotel throughout the day, creating gorgeous sunsets views from the main pool and most of the suites. The original idea was to create a harmonic space where the classical and austere combine with natural and organic forms to convey a simple, yet sophisticated habitat.
Behind this extraordinary eclectic work, we find the exceptional talent and genius of Alejandro Escudero, who is a well noted name in the interior design scene in Mexico and around the world. The brilliant architect and his team of designers carried out this ambitious project, taking care of both interior and exterior designs.
Dining Experience
Alejandro Escudero’s architectural concept runs through the entire property, including the six world-class restaurants whose unique styles resonate in the sublime and sophisticated menu to enthrall your five senses. The culinary scene is masterly led by French Executive Chef Sylvain Desbois and a team of international chefs.
The rooms
Most of the 274 units, among which rooms, suites and villas range from 230 to 557 square feet, reflect the same sophisticated style of the property, with luxury finishes, the finest amenities, and stunning views of the ocean.
The Spa
The prestigious Spa, ESPA, located in a secluded place that was considered sacred for the ancient Mayans, is a true sanctuary of beauty and rejuvenation. That’s where you will reconnect with your inner self through the expert hands of specialized therapists and Mayan inspired treatments evoking ancient practices of healing powers.
The beach
One section of the beach side with an elegant, black marble infinite pool is for adults to relax in while their kids play in a dedicated nearby area or on the beach with easy access to the sea.
The service
Despite the truly spectacular design of the place, what really makes it a world class luxury property is the exceptional service that you can perceive from the very first step you take into the property, until the end of your stay.
Among all the gestures of kindness and genuine care that you will experience throughout your stay, it is the way everybody salutes each other and smiles – guests, staff and managers alike – that stands out.
And you will see how these acts of kindness are contagious, as you will find yourself raising your own hand every time you encounter somebody from the hotel. The hotel experience is really one of a kind, and you will feel the welcoming atmosphere of home throughout every part of the hotel. And you will never want to leave.
