Konstantin Grcic, born in 1965, received his initial training as a cabinet maker at The John Makepeace School for Craftsmen in Wood before pursuing a formal education in Design at the Royal College of Art in London. Since establishing his independent design practice in 1991, he has been actively engaged in creating furniture, products, and lighting for renowned design companies.
Today, Konstantin Grcic Design is headquartered in Berlin and operates across a diverse spectrum of design disciplines, including industrial design projects, limited-edition design pieces, exhibition design, and collaborations in architecture and fashion.
Throughout his career, Grcic has collaborated with prestigious institutions and clients, including the Venice Architecture Biennial, the Musée des Art Décoratifs in Paris, the Instituto Svizzero in Rome, the Fonds national d’art contemporain (FNAC), the Serpentine Gallery in London, the St. Etienne Design Biennial, the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein, and the MUDAM in Luxembourg.
His exceptional design work has received numerous international accolades, including prestigious awards like the Compasso d’Oro and the German Design Award in Gold. Many of his innovative designs have been enshrined in the permanent collections of the world’s most esteemed design museums, including MoMA in New York, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and Die Neue Sammlung in Munich.
