DesignEuropa 2024 ceremony in Riga to reveal winners and honor Dieter Rams

At the 2024 DesignEuropa Awards, six innovative finalists from across Europe will compete for top honors, while Dieter Rams will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award for his pioneering contributions to design.

The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) has unveiled the finalists for the 2024 DesignEuropa Awards, marking the fifth edition of this prestigious event. The awards celebrate outstanding designs that have been protected under the European Union’s Registered Community Design (RCD) system. This year’s awards feature a record-breaking 800 applications, highlighting the growing prominence of design in Europe.

The six finalists, hailing from Belgium, Estonia, Denmark, Sweden, Czechia, and Romania, reflect innovation in energy storage and healthcare sectors. Notable names such as Bang & Olufsen and Meze Audio compete alongside newcomers MyGrid and Arsenit. Their designs, all with a strong focus on sustainability, set new standards for innovation.

The awards ceremony, set to take place in Riga, Latvia, on September 25, 2024, will celebrate these finalists and honor German industrial designer Dieter Rams with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. Rams, known for his iconic work with Braun and Vitsœ, has revolutionized the design landscape over his career, influencing both the functionality and sustainability of consumer products.

This year, the DesignEuropa Awards introduced a new category: the Next Generation Design Award, which highlights the work of designers under the age of 29. With a professional jury that values market impact, sustainability, and design innovation, this year’s event promises to be an inspiring showcase of Europe’s top design talent.
