Istituto Marangoni and Cappellini launch a new challenge for young designers

Istituto Marangoni and Cappellini launch the new challenge “Circular economy. Essential furnitures.”
Istituto Marangoni and Cappellini launch again this year a new challenge to young designers from all over the world, called to discuss a topic more topical and heartfelt than ever before.
“Circular economy. Essential furnitures” invites participants to imagine pieces of furniture from a sustainable perspective, paying due attention to the choice of materials, first of all, without forgetting aesthetics and function.
The author of the winning project will be awarded a full scholarship offered by the Cappellini company to access the Master in Product & Furniture Design and live the unique experience of studying in the Milan office, the beating heart of the best international design, from October 2020, in addition to the possibility of an internship in Cappellini.
The theme chosen for the renowned design contest, now in its sixth edition, responds to the increasing demand for eco-friendly solutions also in the furniture sector: sustainability for companies and designers is one of the main priorities and an integral part of production processes.

Therefore, there are different and complex aspects to be taken into account to face the contest, open to graduates in product, industrial, interior design or architecture, or professionals with relevant experience in the industry, who will have until April 15, 2020 to present their creative proposals.
A descriptive report of the project and tables accompanied by renderings and drawings that best express the idea are required.

The jury, composed of Giulio Cappellini, Architect, Designer and Brand Ambassador of Istituto Marangoni and Massimo Zanatta, Director of Istituto Marangoni Milano Design, will evaluate the projects on the basis of consistency with the theme of the competition, innovation and the ability to synthesize the concept.
