Masiero goes gold with icons collection celebrating 40th anniversary
Italian lighting company Masiero is rolling out a ’Gold Edition” collection incorporating relaunched pieces in celebration of its 40th birthday
In celebration of its 40th anniversary, Italian lighting company Masiero has released a collection featuring some of its most iconic products in gold. The Gold Edition includes five chandeliers that will be produced in just 40 pieces, a limited edition attesting to the brand’s years of design and tailoring excellence.
Gold for forty years
Since being founded in 1981 by Paolo Masiero and Marilena Pellizzato in Northern Italy’s Casale sul Sile, Masiero has transformed from being a small atelier (formerly known as Emme Pi Light) to be one of the world’s leading specialists. The company assumed the name of Masiero in 2005, when Enrico Maria Masiero, the son of the company’s founders joined the firm.
Today, its lighting collections and installations are in demand in 80 different countries, each piece the product of a specialised production chain. Masiero prides itself on the processing of materials as well as the forging of individual parts, the painting, assembly and the artistic finishes created by the expert hands of inhouse decorators.
Over the years, Masiero has built a name associated with one-of-a-kind lighting solutions that use the best quality materials and innovative technologies. Its creations embody raw materials worked by highly qualified masters of metal that shape iron, brass and steel into sculptural frames.
Meanwhile, a selection of precious materials decorates each piece. Silk organza, Asfour, Bassano ceramics and Swarovski crystals are just to name a few. The most recent creations also feature turned wood, resin and methacrylate.
Whilst traditional chandeliers with swirling glass arms are the starting point for conceptual and technological innovations, over forty years Masiero has achieved international scope with a range of products that satisfy different tastes and needs. For its fortieth anniversary collection, the lighting company has looked to its more recent history…
Named Gold Edition, it features reinterpretations of Masiero’s iconic pieces from the past years, including products like the company’s pendant-style Nappe lamps and its Maria Teresa Venetian-style chandelier.
Nappe – The Veritable Jewel
Masiero has given new life to its Nappe lamps, inspired by the opulent tassels of Venetian tiebacks from which the collection takes its name (“Nappe” means tassels in Italian). Created by Venetian designer Marco Zito, each piece is composed of simple geometric shapes which can be individually placed or combined to form a statement centerpiece.
On this occasion, the ten-piece collection has been transformed with shiny gold finishes that transform each pendant into a veritable jewel. The frame is enriched with golden details and the traditional textile fringes are replaced with gold metallic beams, highlighting the design as one of Masiero’s most recognised thanks to its iconicity of shape.

Honicé – A Class Act Contemporary
Meanwhile, the company’s Honicé suspension lends itself to its new treatment. Designed by Oriano Favaretto, its dynamic shape and original detail remain but its anniversary makeover replaces the onyx diffusers with glass decorated in gold leaf. It gives life to a play of overlays that match the gold-coloured frame enveloping the piece like a precious ribbon.
Horo – The Golden Edition Icon
With a distinct vintage flavour, Horo combines illuminated discs textured with a diamond pattern and a brushed brass metal frame, which on this occasion is available in gold.
Designed by French interior designer Pierre Gonalons, a sandwich construction comprises two circles of prismatic glass held together by an outer frame – the perfect representation of an ultimate golden icon: the sun. Horo’s graphic quality is enhanced by a second light source, which sits within a smaller brushed brass circle perpendicular to the main form.
Olà – A Crowning Crystal
Sparkling, multicoloured crystals form the opulent diffusers in the Olà collection designed by Masiero Lab and combining two of the brand’s most unique elements: metal and crystals.
Hundreds of Italian glass jewels sparkle and shine in the fixture’s led lighting, encased by a metal ring and a wire mesh that closes the structure and generates a shower of colored stones. In celebration of forty years, the Olà frame has been decorated in shiny gold and the pendants hand-painted with a warm golden hue.
Maria Teresa – The Iridescent Idol
Finally, the Maria Teresa chandelier maintains its classical style characterised by Venice’s uniquely shaped crystal glass pendants.
When Masiero created this piece, it enhanced a traditional style with a new personality, thanks in part to the latest control systems.
Today, the Maria Teresa collection is available in classic luminance or a dynamic white/RGB LED, which lets users customise the light temperature and create various illuminations.
In its latest reinvention, Masiero has granted the piece a shiny gold frame, arms covered in amber-coloured glass, pendants hand-painted gold in and dynamic white LED lighting.
The Maria Teresa is one of Masiero’s most iconic products, emblematic of the brand’s flair for technology and design: elements that combine to make Masiero unique.
