This portable minimalistic device caters to storage needs fuss-free

A one-of-a-kind portable SSD with an integrated USB-C cable, seamlessly revealed below a sliding aluminum cover – Alex D’Souza brilliantly fabricates Slide.

UK-based industrial designer and visualiser Alex D’Souza brilliantly fabricates ‘Slide’ – a one-of-a-kind portable SSD with an integrated USB-C cable, seamlessly revealed below a sliding aluminum cover.

Innovatively created for Design Workout as a part of their Industrial Design Challenge – “this portable SSD concept was simply inspired by dealing with impractical cables that hang off the side of existing SSD’s.

Its cover can be slid upwards, hence the product name, revealing the inbuilt flexible cable beneath” says D’Souza.

An extruded aluminum cover effortlessly slides over its internal SSD case, uncovering an inbuilt flexible and fuss-free USB-C cable that pops out only when needed.

This eclectic device’s cover not only provides a clean minimalistic aesthetic with gently rounded corners that are flush with the internals, but also skillfully protects the SSD further from knocks and bumps.

“As opposed to other SSD’s, its cable is always there when you need it, protected from damage and isn’t awkwardly dangling about when not being used” D’Souza adds.

Additionally – it’s long enough to be utilized in most portable situations, or even just easily attached to a regular desktop computer.
