Infiniti and Nichetto redefine the monobloc chair with Linnéa
A contemporary reinterpretation of an archetype: by bringing attention back to the value of synthesis and design efficiency, Linnéa redefines a widespread typology through a renewed language.

Lightweight and affordable, the monobloc plastic chair is one of the most common household items and, since the 1960s, has become a true symbol of accessible industrial design, bearing witness to the evolution of plastics and moulding techniques. Linnéa, the name of the new project created by Nichetto Studio for infiniti, aims to rediscover this type of product.
Previewed at the Italian brand’s stand at the Salone del Mobile 2026 (HALL 14 – BOOTH E31) from April 21st to 26th, the chair stems from a shared reflection on the nature of technological innovation: the monobloc represents an archetype that, partly due to the development of new processes, has become obsolete in favour of increasingly complex solutions.

Infiniti’s expertise, which combines a culture of design with industrial know-how, combined with Nichetto’s design philosophy – which aims to create objects and experiences that forge a connection with people – has given rise to a chair that goes against the grain: Linnéa revisits the principle of simplicity inherent in the monobloc and updates it with a contemporary language, refocusing attention on the value of synthesis and design efficiency.
The main challenge was to engage with a widely used design type whilst seeking to redefine its language with new elements: on the one hand, through measured adjustments to proportions, surfaces and details to maintain the ease of use typical of the monobloc, and on the other, by always respecting the fundamental principles of this design type – material optimisation, reduced cross-sections and stackability.

The revamped design draws on the aesthetics of the 1970s but is designed to suit a variety of settings, from the contract sector – hotels and restaurants – to the residential sector. Thanks to an in-depth study of the cross-section and surface continuity, carried out in close collaboration between infiniti and Nichetto, the final design ensures a consistent thickness and a durable product with clean, appealing lines.
It is the details that set Linnéa apart from other chairs: the fluted legs, the opening in the backrest and the angle of the seat, calibrated for comfort. These features also help to enhance the visual perception of the chair, making it appear lighter and more contemporary.

The product is designed to work on multiple levels: on the one hand, it features a clean, straightforward line that highlights this type of chair. On the other, it offers a deeper interpretation, engaging with the history of design without merely paying homage to it. Even the name reflects this approach: Linnéa evokes the ‘line’, the defining element of the design and the essence of its identity.
Another important aspect of this new evolution of the monobloc chair by infiniti and Nichetto is the material, the expression of a more conscious choice. In line with a more responsible approach to the environment and health, Linnéa introduces a version made from at least 30% post-industrial recycled plastic (PIR), available in the shade Dove Grey.

The chair is released with or without armrests and delivers high performance even with intensive use in high-traffic environments, such as public spaces, bars and restaurants. All versions are stackable and can also be stacked on top of one another. The colour palette includes warm, cool and neutral shades, designed to complement a variety of architectural settings and environments.
Born from a close collaboration between infiniti and Nichetto and developed in close cooperation throughout all stages, from concept to production, the model is produced using a milled steel mould, with particular attention to surface quality and texture definition.

Together with Linnéa, the Italian brand and the design studio are redefining the monobloc chair as a design object – an evolution worthy of a classic, capable of transcending different contexts and design languages. The project will be previewed to the public at the infiniti stand at the Salone del Mobile 2026 (HALL 14 – BOOTH E31) from April 21st to 26th.
