Albertino and Carlo Colombo introduce MXTP for antoniolupi, an exclusive and customizable DJ desk that blends music and high-quality design.
Adaptable to the highest degree, the MXTP Custom DJ Desk is a universal solution for DJs and music lovers, accommodating different devices such as mixers, CD players, standalones, and even vinyl record machines.
It is the fruit of an innovative collaboration combining Carlo Colombo’s cutting-edge design, antoniolupi’s manufacturing expertise, and Albertino’s deep knowledge of the DJ world as Radio m2o’s artistic director. Inspired by Albertino’s vision, MXTP transcends mere functionality, emerging as a cult design object with significant aesthetic appeal and futuristic technological elements.
“In a market where Custom DJ Desk are predominantly simple boxes or tables covered with black sheets, I had long felt the need for a different product that could elevate the figure of the DJ, which is increasingly important today, and that could unite music and design, worlds that are only seemingly distant from each other,” says Albertino, artistic director of radio m2o.
“MXTP, with its distinct appeal and strong emotional charge, was created as a communicative and popular tool to pay homage to these two art forms. For the design of this object, which goes into a segment not yet covered by any design brand, I immediately thought of Carlo Colombo, a famous architect and designer whom I have known personally for 30 years.” continues the DJ.
Carlo Colombo designed the desk with soft, elegant forms, creating an almost futuristic object with striking aesthetic purity. The project gained momentum when Carlo Colombo and Albertino partnered with Andrea Lupi of antoniolupi, a visionary entrepreneur who embraced the challenge enthusiastically.
Following their meeting in November 2023, the creation process began, resulting in three finishes—black, gray, and gold—for its exclusive debut at the upcoming Salone del Mobile.Milano. The acronym “MXTP Custom DJ Desk” represents a new mixtape concept, merging design and innovation inspired by cassette tapes.
“To realize it concretely,” says Carlo Colombo, “I involved Andrea Lupi, with whom I have been working for 25 years. Together we immediately shared this idea of Albertino with great passion and determination. Both Andrea and I, in fact, are visionaries, and this is demonstrated by the evolution of the mission of the antoniolupi brand, which in recent years has been able to grow both in terms of turnover and in the emotional and product path.“
From above, the console top resembles a cassette tape, symbolizing a fusion of past, present, and future elements. MXTP Custom DJ Desk anticipates future trends and frontiers in entertainment design. Its aesthetic purity is highlighted by hidden cables within the leg structure, ensuring a clean, elegant appearance. The legs support the top and discreetly manage wiring.
“When Carlo Colombo and Albertino showed me the design of a console desk,” says Andrea Lupi CEO of the antoniolupi family company, “I was immediately impressed and accepted with great enthusiasm the challenge to create an object that did not exist. The end result is truly extraordinary, the MXTP Console is an innovative product with infinite potential.“
