The result of a creative partnership between the acclaimed Brazilian design studio Furf and the imaginative Italian brand Qeeboo—founded by Stefano Giovannoni, known for shaping contemporary design through collaborations with global icons like Philippe Starck, Marcantonio, Ron Arad, Marcel Wanders, and more.

Tronco is the latest addition to a lineup of bold and iconic pieces. This new creation blends a nature-inspired aesthetic with the practical demands of modern urban life. Designed to adapt and evolve, Tronco brings both function and personality into any space. Its playful, stackable form offers endless possibilities—whether as storage, display, or a place to hang everyday items—turning an ordinary object into a bold, sculptural feature that grows with your lifestyle.

We reached out to the company and the designers to gain deeper insight into the project.

Given its nature-inspired aspect, what materials is Tronco made from, and were any sustainable practices or recycled materials used in production?

Qeeboo:

“Tronco is crafted from 100% recyclable polyethylene, a material chosen for its durability, adaptability, and sustainability. As part of Qeeboo’s commitment to responsible design, the production process prioritizes efficiency and longevity, ensuring that each piece is built to last for generations. By embracing recyclable materials, Tronco not only pays homage to nature in its design but also aligns with eco-conscious manufacturing principles.

How do you envision users interacting with Tronco on a daily basis — more as a statement piece, or as an everyday storage essential?

Qeeboo:

“Tronco is designed to be both a functional object and a statement piece, seamlessly adapting to different lifestyles and environments. Its sculptural, tree-inspired form makes it visually distinctive, adding a playful yet sophisticated element to any space. At the same time, its storage capacity and versatility allow it to function as an everyday essential, whether used as a bedside table, a bathroom organizer or a side table in a living room. Its stackable nature further expands its usability, enabling users to build custom configurations that suit their needs.”

Has user ergonomics played a role in defining the height, diameter, or access to storage within the unit?

Qeeboo:

“Absolutely. Ergonomics played a crucial role in Tronco’s development, ensuring both functionality and ease of use. The height and diameter were carefully considered to make it comfortable for everyday interactions, whether as a side table, nightstand. The integrated storage compartment features an easy-access door that allows users to store essentials conveniently. Additionally, the ability to stack multiple units without compromising stability provides further customization, making Tronco a highly adaptable piece in different settings.”

How does Tronco reflect Furf’s broader design philosophy or Qeeboo’s DNA?

Furf:

“It is a perfect fusion of Furf’s poetic yet functional design ethos and Qeeboo’s distinctive DNA of playful, imaginative, and modular objects. Inspired by the natural role of tree trunks as storage spaces in the wild, Tronco transforms this organic concept into an innovative, stackable container that feels both familiar and unexpected. It bridges the gap between nature and industrial design, bringing a sense of storytelling, emotion, and adaptability into contemporary living spaces.”

The multifunctionality is great — how did you balance aesthetics with utility across different contexts like the bathroom versus the bedroom?

Furf:

“Balancing aesthetic appeal with practical functionality was key in Tronco’s design. Its clean lines, sculptural form, and smooth finish make it a refined yet playful addition to any space, while its storage function ensures it serves a purpose beyond aesthetics. its stackable and adaptable nature allows it to integrate seamlessly into bedrooms, living areas, and even outdoor settings. Tronco isn’t confined to a single use—it transforms to meet different needs across various contexts.”

Could future versions include additional optional components — perhaps hooks, trays, or lighting?

Furf:

“Tronco’s modular nature already includes some exciting optionals, such as stacking magnets, allowing users to build taller, sculptural configurations, and optional wheels, which enhance its mobility.”
