2024 BLT Built Design Awards spotlight innovation and emerging designers
The event revealed an outstanding lineup of exceptional projects and emerging talents, celebrating the visionaries driving the future of architecture, design, and construction.
This year’s BLT Built Design Awards program received over 800 entries from 57 countries, showcasing a remarkable range of visionary ideas redefining both urban and natural landscapes. From established professionals to emerging talents, the initiative celebrated those shaping the future of architecture, interior and landscape design, and construction.
The awards highlighted a unique diversity of expertise, recognizing everyone involved in bringing exceptional projects to life. From architecture firms to construction product designers, the event shone a spotlight on those addressing today’s urbanization challenges with fresh ideas and impactful solutions. After multiple rounds of voting, each winning project was meticulously evaluated by a jury of 31 leading professionals, media experts, entrepreneurs, and academics from the fields of architecture and design.
Astrid Hébert, Co-founder of the BLT Built Design Awards, praised the outstanding quality of entries and their impact on the built environment: “We are incredibly inspired by the vision and commitment of this year’s winners. This year’s winners reflected a shared passion for visionary design across disciplines. The honor for Architectural Design of the Year was awarded to ATMOSPHERE by Krallerhof, Germany, a standout project by Hadi Teherani Architects with decking by Kebony. WOSA Sintered Stone Showroom in Macau, designed by The Volks Design Research & Consulting Ltd., earned the title of Interior Design of the Year. In Landscape Architecture, Benjakitti Forest Park in Thailand by Arsomsilp Community and Environmental Architect + TURENSCAPE took top honors, while System 02 by The Backcountry Hut Company from Canada was named Construction Product Design of the Year.
Emerging talents were equally celebrated: Timber & Table, a unique concept by Luxi Chen, was awarded Emerging Architect of the Year. Sonal Aggarwal’s striking work on the Yohji Yamamoto New York City Flagship Store was recognized as Emerging Interior Designer of the Year. Finally, Exoskeletons in Taiwan by Cheng-Wei Lee received the title of Emerging Landscape Architect of the Year.
This year’s competition showcased the remarkable talents of renowned leaders in architecture and design, including luminaries such as Marcio Kogan from Studio Mk27, Zaha Hadid Architects, Tadao Ando Architect & Associates, MAD Architects, KPMB Architects, Bjarke Ingels Group, dwp | design worldwide partnership, Dominique Coulon & Associés, Concéntrico, Casson Mann, Sanjay Puri Architects, and Stylt Trampoli AB, among others. These influential voices continue to inspire and propel the industry forward with their unwavering dedication to innovation and excellence.
