The shortlist for this year’s Restaurant & Bar Design Awards has been announced
The judging panel of global luminaries from the world of design, hospitality and media reviewed 835 entries from 69 countries across 45 categories, resulting in a shortlist of 279 projects.
The Restaurant & Bar Design Awards is a globally recognised competition dedicated to the design of food and beverage spaces. The Awards are followed by over 45,000 of the most prominent architects, hotel, restaurant & bar operators and media globally. This means that the Awards have unprecedented credibility and reach.
Entries cover every imaginable hospitality space, from ships to airports, museums to burger vans, from revered Michelin starred establishments to the fleeting dynamism of pop-ups.
The highly influential international judging panel for this year’s Awards comprises 38 leading figures working across design, architecture, hospitality and lifestyle including Amanda Elder (Chief Commercial Officer, Kempinski Hotels) and Knut Wylde (General Manager, The Berkeley) and many others.
Every entry will be published on the Awards website: hotel, restaurant and bar operators around the world follow the awards closely and use the website as a source to identify the best designers and design trends.
All shortlisted and winning projects will be promoted via our social media, with studios able to promote themselves online with digital plaques. Winning projects also have the option of receiving a trophy and winners logo, for use on websites / other media.
In addition to a significant social media following, especially on Instagram, the 2020 Restaurant & Bar Design Awards and its winners achieved unprecedented global media coverage in titles including Elle Decoration, Vogue Living, Architectural Digest and Condé Nast Traveler, to name a few.
In this year’s shortlist China leads the way in entries with 43 different projects nominated. Close behind is the United States with 38 entries. Britain has 18 entries within the competition including The Dandy Bar, in London, Klosterhaus, in Bristol and The Toast Office in Belfast.
The winners will be announced on the 14th of October at the culmination of an inaugural Restaurant & Bar Design Week – a celebration of innovation, pioneering thought, and a demonstration of why restaurants and bars really are the world’s most creative spaces.
